Donations made to Common Ground Queensland will be used to provide opportunities for our current tenants to maximise their potential to overcome their personal challenges, have a place to call home, and lead a full and happy life.

Common Ground Queensland is also committed to providing additional supportive housing to individuals and families who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness, and require support to remain housed.  We are interested in working in partnership with individuals, organisations, and government to create solutions that benefit the whole community.  If you would like to discuss opportunities to be involved in the creation of homes for vulnerable Queenslanders please contact us.

Our current projects

Digital Inclusion Project

Equal and affordable access to technology is fundamental to avoiding the entrenchment of disadvantage of those not digitally included.  The ability to access, use, create and share knowledge using technology is critical to social inclusion.

Common Ground Queensland is currently raising funds to provide free access to Wi-Fi services to tenants at Brisbane Common Ground and to provide the necessary hardware and skills development opportunities for those tenants that cannot otherwise access these resources.

Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) and UBR Technologies have been our major sponsors in the first stage of this project that has delivered the WiFi service to the building.  Current fundraising activities and donations will be utilised in the provision of hardware, communication platforms  and skills development.

Health and Fitness Project

We are currently working with our tenants to convert an unused space in our building into a fitness centre.  Accessing opportunities for exercise and group fitness is often difficult for our tenants due to financial and physical constraints.  We are seeking donations to support the creation of an appropriate and safe space, the purchase of equipment and the provision of instructors to assist tenants to learn correct techniques.

To date we have received support from Grocon, Stowe Electrical, and Mitre 10 with provision of some labour and materials.  We have submitted grant applications to fund the purchase of some appropriate equipment.

When the space is up and running we will be looking for volunteers to assist with training and advice on how to exercise safely, many of our tenants have not had access to this type of facility previously.
